According to The Future of Jobs Report by the World Economic Forum for 2030, 22% of today's jobs will undergo a transformation through job creation or destruction. 170M jobs will be created, of which, in reality, 92M will be filled by relocating people, leaving us with a net creation balance of 7% of total work, that is, 78M jobs. This is explained by companies' tendency to train their employees in the new skills the current environment requires rather than hiring new staff, thereby reducing costs for companies.

39% of existing skills will require transformation or become outdated. The most in-demand skills will be managing AI and Big Data, cybersecurity, technology training, creativity, resilience, continuous learning, curiosity, problem-solving, and leadership.

50% of employers expect to move their employees into the most in-demand roles, while 40% expect to reduce their workforce with skills that are less relevant in the current environment.

The cross-cutting engine of change is AI and data, which 86% of employers expect to transform their business.

By percentage, demand is rising for technology-related roles, but by volume, demand is increasing for frontline jobs such as retail, agriculture, construction workers, delivery drivers, and so on, as well as healthcare and care jobs such as social workers, nursing, and occupational therapy, while jobs in secondary and higher education are also on the rise.

Meanwhile, administrative and support jobs will suffer the steepest decline in absolute numbers, as will data entry roles, bank tellers, and postal service workers, among others.

As for attracting and retaining talent, the trend will be to increase employee well-being and health measures, as well as upskilling and reskilling policies as retention practices, linking salary increases to efficiency and productivity.
